Take two - my first post seemed to disapear when I hit the 'submit' button.
This year we've produced a naked calendar but unfortunately we have failed to sell less than 500 of the originally ordered 3000 copies - leaving us with calendars lying around in the RAG Office and RAG at a loss of £3k with no money being donated to the charity.
In an attempt to shift the rest of the calendars I had an idea - if a charity was willing to help us sell the remaining calendars we'd be willing to split the profits 50:50 (or 25% for us, 75% for the charity if you asked nicely). The retail price was £6 but this could be lowered to anything as low as £2 - if they where all sold at £3 for example then that would be £4,500 for the charity in question. To me it seems a waste to try and flog them in the SU when there is the potential to sell them more efficiently.
What are people's thoughts on this? |

It's a good idea that we might have taken up at the beginning of the year.
Unfortunately, it's June next week, which isn't the best time to start selling calendars, and with the time avaialble, there are other things I'd rather be promoting.
A thought that occurs to me though. I've no idea how they're bound, so this may not work, but could you extract the September - December pages, shoot a new (or use the old graphics) for January - August '10 , rebind them, and sell them as academic calendars to the next lot of freshers? _________________ Melon and I are off to Lesotho to help fight HIV/AIDS (we'll be trained to give education classes to help dispel common myths etc, and also encourage people to get screened via the medium of football) Please give generously! |

This is true, we did have a charity to give the money too but thanks to a massive c***-up by a member of the RAG Exec, who was swiflty removed after refusing to even try to help in selling the calendars back in January, I had to right a very apologetic letter - not something I ever wanted to do.
That would be an idea but we are planning a new academic calendar to sell at freshers. Although we could cut them up and turn them into Christmas cards and sell them in packs of twelve... |

Did Dave and I mention we'd won an award and seem to have been short listed of another? |
